The questions I get most often, answered honestly. Yours not here? Send it over.

About steirk

What does "steirk" mean?

It is Flemish dialect for "sterk", the Dutch word for strong. That is how I want to work: a strong approach, without the frills.

Who will I be working with?

With me. No account manager handing you off to a team you never speak to. Whoever you talk to in that first call is the person doing the work.

You're moving to Turkey. Can you still help me?

Absolutely. I already work mostly remotely, and that does not change when I move in November. Phone, email, video call: same number, same person, and invoicing runs just as smoothly.

What languages can we work in?

Dutch, English and Turkish. I am Belgian with Turkish roots, so both the Belgian and the Turkish way of doing business are familiar to me.

Working together

Can I just ask for a chat?

Of course. Drop me a message or give me a call and we will see what is possible.

How does working together go?

In four steps. We talk about what you want to achieve and where it hurts. Then you get a plan with goals and timing, in black and white. Then we get to work, with short lines and quick updates. And afterwards we look at what works and adjust.

My budget is small. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Small or large, I always look for the best solution within what you can spend. No client is too small, and every project gets the same attention.

What does it cost?

That depends on what you need, so I do not slap a fixed price list on it. After a first conversation you get a proposal with a clear figure and exactly what it covers.

How long does it take?

That depends on the scope. You get a timeline in the proposal and I stick to it. Years on building sites taught me that a deadline is a deadline: if something slips, you hear it in time, not afterwards.

Will you tell me if something is a bad idea?

Yes. Honest advice is part of the deal, even when it means: you do not need this. I would rather sell you less than sell you something useless.

Websites and online stores

Do you build websites for others too?

Yes, from a simple one-pager to a web app with a database. Just ask what is possible.

Do you build online stores too?

Yes. I have built them on WooCommerce with custom extensions and payments through Mollie. Which solution fits best depends on what you sell and how much you want to manage yourself.

What do you build with?

Mostly PHP, MySQL and JavaScript, and a modern framework where it fits. I deliberately keep the code light, so your site stays fast and easy to maintain. No theme that boxes you in later, no plug-in that stops working after a year.

Can I edit the site myself afterwards?

If you want, I build an admin area where you keep the text, photos or projects up to date yourself. I did exactly that for Binnen Buiten Renovatie, who now add to their portfolio themselves.

I already have a website. Can you work with it?

Often, yes. Sometimes you do not need a new site but sharper copy and a better structure, as with DC Repair. Sometimes starting over is cheaper than patching. I will tell you honestly which one I think it is.

Do you do SEO as well?

Yes. I write the copy, structure and technical side so you get found from the start, and for local businesses I put the region in on purpose. That is part of building, not a separate project bolted on afterwards.

Who owns the site afterwards?

You do. I put the site on your hosting and your domain name, so you are not tied to anyone and can always take it elsewhere.

Sales and business development

What exactly do you do on the sales side?

I look at how you sell today and find where it gets stuck. Then I help make the process tighter and warmer: who your best clients are and how to reach them, follow-up that does not get forgotten, and proposals that convince without pushing.

Do you advise, or do you roll up your sleeves?

Both. You get a clear sales process on paper and concrete actions for the coming weeks, but I also help carry them out: prospecting, follow-up or working out proposals.

Can you help with doing business in Turkey?

That is exactly where I am well placed. I know both the Belgian and the Turkish way of working, map out the opportunities and partners, and help run those first conversations.

What does project follow-up involve?

Bringing structure: who does what, and by when. I follow up, keep everyone posted and step in when something threatens to go off the rails. I learned that approach on building sites, and it works anywhere.

Is your question not there?

Just send it over. I always answer myself, and if I do not know I will say so.
